Just in time for the latest snowstorm to strike!
So, I may be joining the ranks of the "gainfully" employed soon, if a certain phone call tomorrow pans out as it should.
Just in time for the latest snowstorm to strike!

So here I sit, with someone else's stuffed penguin in my lap as try to come up with the perfect opening line for a fairytale.
Well, that's not all I'm doing, really. It's just a part of it. So what in the heck am I talking about? I'm getting to that! I know that the title is somewhat cliche-tastic, but I can be a bit corny at times.
All bad holiday puns aside... My family always takes time to count our blessings this time of year, and I hope you guys do too! We often forget the many good things we have had throughout the year... Madre dulce de Shiva, do I intend to make myself nuts?
I've discovered a cashe of forgotten pages, added a few new ones (oh, my Gaia, a HOME PAGE!?!)... and I'm pretty sure I have a few pages that just need to go and have their content separated and added to other pages... This is going to take some time... I've been a bit lax in my writerly duties.
I'm woman enough to own up to the truth of that. Just when I was starting to wonder if the mojo was gone for good... I slipped and fell into a little thing we all like to call YouTube. So! In no particular order, I will post my favourite sources of inspiration --with the added benefits of clips that explain just why I am oh, so enamoured. Well, I haven't been on here in a while, I guess?
So, in case anyone cares, I've been working on some things!
I have a new story idea, for all of the Final Fantasy VII fans out there!(Of course, I fully intend to write it myself. I just want to share~ )So far, I want to call it "Matchmaker, Matchmaker".
I was greatly inspired by this story called "Vanilla" [by Sorceress Fantasia] on ff.net. On the surface, the plot will sound really similar, but it will be very different, I promise! Aditional inspiration came from another fan-fiction called "Suburbia" [by Falaphesian], Supernatural (created by Eric Kripke), a handful of songs so far ("Use Somebody" - Kings of Leon; "Big Girls Don't Cry" - Fergie; "Demons" - Imagine Dragons; "Titanium" - David Guetta feat. Sia; "Everybody Talks" - Neon Tress), and a 1999 novel called "A Ghost For Maggie" by Emily Charmichael. Anyway! I wanted to try a new pairing --one I'd never written before-- and none of my in-progress works would let me do that (well, one of them might, but only if I make it part of a set >.<). What pairing, you ask? Cloud Strife and Vincent Valentine. I know I've never attempted anything like this before... and it is intimidating, but I really want to take a shot at it. The plot summary: This was not how things were supposed to go. Tifa wasn't supposed to die and leave her best friend Cloud all alone, she wasn't supposed to come back as a ghost, and she sure as hell wasn't supposed to slip into Cloud's body and convience the dark and mysterious Valentine to take a chance on a relationship with Cloud! To think he'd been missing her, faults and all! I know, I know. It sounds so similar, if you checked out the other story... so I'll give a little more detail... Plot Synopsis: Six months after the death of his best friend, Cloud Strife is still attempting to cope by avoiding having the time or clarity of mind to dwell on Tifa. For a long time, Tifa had been his only friend, so she left him her bar to run in an effort to get him out more. Instead, Cloud has withdrawn more into himself. Tifa's spirit, unable to find peace because of her sould-deep worry for her friend, has been wandering the earth for those same six months. Actually, she's just stayed pretty close to Cloud while she tried to figure out the tricks of the trade for a ghost. Finally, she's made enough progress to move things, appear before people, and --more importantly-- possess the living, at least for a while. Convinced that if left to his own devices, Cloud will probably kill himself or wind up alone, Tifa hatches a plan to get her best friend together with the only other person she can think of who knows how lost Cloud feels: Vincent Valentine. Even before the plan forms fully, she knows that Cloud will not have the persistance to talk to the other man -let alone the understanding that they both need this chance- but Tifa's got that covered... First things first, she had to snap him out of that stupid funk and get him to open the doors of her precious business. It promises to be a rather dark story, at least at first. Cloud's not exactly got a great history (Vincent's won't be much better) and there is an honest to goodness poltergeist --and some personal demons (a few of which are more literal than others...)-- involved intricately in the plot. As you probably guessed, it's an AU story. Nope, it's not going to fit with any other story I've written, but I have high hopes for it, because I am so pumped to write it right now~ I've already written most of one scene for the story --the first meeting, in point of fact! I am so stoked to work on this one! Well, I've fallen off the writer's wagon, apparently.
I won't lie and say I had good reason. Good reason is when you get a job and make good money. I fell off to catch up on a telanovella/soap opera called "Hollywood Heights" (which I fell for last summer but never got a chance to catch up on) and to discover I am in love with the sound of Cody Longo's voice. In case you were wondering what one distraction has to do with the other, Cody Longo stared in (Stars in? None of the fans are sure if we'll get more) "Hollywood Heights" as music sensation Eddie Duran... Besides, as far as falling away from writing, it's only been a few short days and I was working on the story during that time, actually. Still, I think it was worth it. I'm definitely enjoying my musical distraction (that would be Mister Cody Longo, children) and I sort of think of him as a new muse. I mean, he's gorgeous, he's got a great voice (that would be both his vocal prowess and his lyrics) --a girl can do a lot worse in a muse! I usually can pick a solid favorite song pretty quick, but I'm torn between three of his. I think "She Said" is in the lead right now, but two days ago it was "Electric", so you can see how this goes right now... Either way, he is a superb talent and I'm always happy when I hear his songs. If you have the chance, go check out his YouTube (I've already subscribed like a good fan-girl) or maybe just follow him on Twitter. I expect great things, personally. Fucking hell, when had Reno stopped being so young? When Legend had first introduced me to him, Reno had been nothing but a street punk suddenly plucked off the streets. He had been all sharp angles, gawky spindly limbs, and sarcasm. To see that he'd filled out –the skinny arms becoming muscular, the shoulders broadening with maturity, the chest filled out with hard work, the long slender legs becoming lean with muscle– should have changed my perspective and my opinion of him. But I hadn't seen it, not at all. I'd noticed his improvement as an operative and properly rewarded him for it, but I'd never looked at him –really looked at him– and saw that the kid I'd met in the first place was no more. ~From chapter three of "Rubber Bands, Super Glue, and Bullet Holes" by SinsofMidnight I've been working hard on chapter three for most of a week now.
I've got more than 2000 words for it, but I want to write the rest of one more perspective before I post it... because, while I'm a horrible little tease, even I'm not that cruel yet! I will own up to the fact that it's not gonna be a two-chapter fic, like I'd originally hoped. Still, I think the story is better for some of the stylistic choices I made. Since I've been working on it so tirelessly, I thought I'd share a bit about it, if that's aright with everyone. Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did. Don't you just hate it when you talk yourself into more work?
All of a sudden, I just decided that one page for the musical influences was not enough, so now there are two --two of which look a heck of a lot better than the other, but two of them (not the same pair) are not yet complete. And since I added a few new universes to my list, I get to create more pages, move some of the older ones around and edit, edit, edit. Sometimes, I'm pretty sure I'm a masochist. Then again, that just might be my inner perfectionist sticking out her head. Ugh, I wish I could just leave it, some days, but I want this to be a fun, easy place to visit, so I'm gonna make myself miserable to do it! Ah, well. Such is life. Let me know if you think of anything else that needs to be added to the site while I'm at it, alright? Ever at your pleasure, ~Sins~ |
