It's rare for me to latch onto a few characters and have them be favorites for anything longer than a few years.
That's why Xenosaga is the exception.
My favorite characters from the first game were always Rubedo, Negrado, and chaos. Keep in mind, I was a pre-teen when I first saw anyone play the game.
Of course, there were a few new characters I liked with the release of the other two games, but those three were consistent favorites throughout.
That's right. I have had the same favorite characters for Xenosaga for over ten years. Take that, fandom!
Though it is rare to find any fan-fictions for the pairings I'm particularly interested in, I've still found some pretty impressive pieces written out there. Of course, I had to try my own hand at it --especially because there was not any alternate universe or alternate timeline fan-fictions for the series and there should be tons, considering!

(Shion Uzuki/Rubedo Kukai)
One thing Shion Uzuki and Rubedo Kukai have in common is their inability to share their troubles. These two go on pretending everything is fine because they would rather fake a smile than to be a burden to their friends. Luckily, they're best friends that can share with each other. When both of them become unattached, how can they resist what's always been between them?
