So here I sit, with someone else's stuffed penguin in my lap as try to come up with the perfect opening line for a fairytale. Well, that's not all I'm doing, really. It's just a part of it. So what in the heck am I talking about? I'm getting to that!
So, in case anyone cares, I've been working on some things!
My out-of-season Valentine's fic! It's called "I Hate Valentine's Day" and it is actually based on two pieces of art --this piece written by ShadowHaloedAngel and this piece written by Phoneix-Faerie I believe I told Phoneix-Faerie that I wanted to write a piece to go with the set around... two years ago? (I don't think I ever mentioned it to ShadowHaloedAngel at all >.< ) Anyway, I've finally actually worked on it. So far, what I have done is posted on ff.net (here!), but when it is complete, I will post it here, as well! If you choose to read it, please read the others first (reading order is the order their linked to above), but also note that I sort of... started in an odd place? It makes sense, but it's not quite where I would have predicted starting it, myself...
My first hetero story in... God, let's not even go there, 'kay? It's looking to turn into a bit of a thriller or a zombie tale. I'm not sure yet, haha. It's been a bit since I've really developed a new setting (I got so stuck in Mystic and RFed.) that it's being a bit of a challenge...
What might (hopefully) be my first published m/m romance? So far, it's gone through two names already. Most recently, I've settled on "Music of Our Own". One of the publishers I stalk follow is having open submissions for an anthology, and this story should fit the criteria, since I really doubt I'll go over 12,000 words... Of course, then it has to impress the editor in charge of the project, but hopefully I'll finish with enough time to work out all the kinks. I intend to work with a different pen-name than I normally do, but that might change along the way... I'll let y'all know?
My reading list? There's... oh, 10 library books lost in my room (not really lost, lol). I'm working through them slowly, since I really want to work on other things... Still, I can't not finish "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint Exupery! The novels are definitely on hold, but I also can't ignore the draw of "Tao Te Ching" (translated by Sam Hamill) because only a poet can leave the mystery in the mystics... And there's the book of poetry... I'm almost done with that one, at least! My book on writing... probably should finish reading it before I finish a piece I hope to publish, huh...? And my reference books... well, they're eclectic but appropriate in their own way!
My challenge! Well, the compositions for it? It'll be a bit before you actually see another from me, I'm afraid everything is pushing my work on that aside for now...
I forgot how many computer issues can be solved with a set of eye-glass screwdrivers, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and q-tips.... Scary fan-rattle that made me think my computer was going to explode? Now a thing of the past! No thanks to my brother who just made me more paranoid until I fixed the damn thing with a screwdriver.
Oh, and my headphone port works again! That's a happy thing!
It's actually the most recent in a streak of computer troubles.
I actually lost everything, aside from what I could download from the interwebs not more than two weeks ago...'
I had to install a new OS --then reinstall it at least twice more.
Still, computer trouble can't keep me down long before I get inventive and make the damn thing work!
Speaking of which, I got another issue that I'm going to have to fix before it drives me insane >.<
I have a new story idea, for all of the Final Fantasy VII fans out there!(Of course, I fully intend to write it myself. I just want to share~ )So far, I want to call it "Matchmaker, Matchmaker".
I was greatly inspired by this story called "Vanilla" [by Sorceress Fantasia] on ff.net. On the surface, the plot will sound really similar, but it will be very different, I promise! Aditional inspiration came from another fan-fiction called "Suburbia" [by Falaphesian], Supernatural (created by Eric Kripke), a handful of songs so far ("Use Somebody" - Kings of Leon; "Big Girls Don't Cry" - Fergie; "Demons" - Imagine Dragons; "Titanium" - David Guetta feat. Sia; "Everybody Talks" - Neon Tress), and a 1999 novel called "A Ghost For Maggie" by Emily Charmichael.
Anyway! I wanted to try a new pairing --one I'd never written before-- and none of my in-progress works would let me do that (well, one of them might, but only if I make it part of a set >.<). What pairing, you ask? Cloud Strife and Vincent Valentine.
I know I've never attempted anything like this before... and it is intimidating, but I really want to take a shot at it.
The plot summary: This was not how things were supposed to go. Tifa wasn't supposed to die and leave her best friend Cloud all alone, she wasn't supposed to come back as a ghost, and she sure as hell wasn't supposed to slip into Cloud's body and convience the dark and mysterious Valentine to take a chance on a relationship with Cloud! To think he'd been missing her, faults and all!
I know, I know. It sounds so similar, if you checked out the other story... so I'll give a little more detail...
Plot Synopsis: Six months after the death of his best friend, Cloud Strife is still attempting to cope by avoiding having the time or clarity of mind to dwell on Tifa. For a long time, Tifa had been his only friend, so she left him her bar to run in an effort to get him out more. Instead, Cloud has withdrawn more into himself. Tifa's spirit, unable to find peace because of her sould-deep worry for her friend, has been wandering the earth for those same six months. Actually, she's just stayed pretty close to Cloud while she tried to figure out the tricks of the trade for a ghost. Finally, she's made enough progress to move things, appear before people, and --more importantly-- possess the living, at least for a while. Convinced that if left to his own devices, Cloud will probably kill himself or wind up alone, Tifa hatches a plan to get her best friend together with the only other person she can think of who knows how lost Cloud feels: Vincent Valentine. Even before the plan forms fully, she knows that Cloud will not have the persistance to talk to the other man -let alone the understanding that they both need this chance- but Tifa's got that covered... First things first, she had to snap him out of that stupid funk and get him to open the doors of her precious business.
It promises to be a rather dark story, at least at first. Cloud's not exactly got a great history (Vincent's won't be much better) and there is an honest to goodness poltergeist --and some personal demons (a few of which are more literal than others...)-- involved intricately in the plot.
As you probably guessed, it's an AU story. Nope, it's not going to fit with any other story I've written, but I have high hopes for it, because I am so pumped to write it right now~ I've already written most of one scene for the story --the first meeting, in point of fact! I am so stoked to work on this one!
So it is now posted on fanfiction.net and here (and with functional links and everything!).
Don't forget! "One Day At A Time - SIDE A" is written and posted only on my lj only for the time being!
I missed my self imposed deadline by a matter of minutes because my stupid internet was being evil.
But I really like what I did with the story!
Blurb: One Day At A Time – SIDE A Fandom: Bleach Teaser: “I'd heard it said that one did not love someone for all of the perfection in them but for all of their faults. If that were true, there would always be a hell of a lot to love about Shunsui Kyōraku.” Rating: T, for swearing and male/male kissing Main Pairing: Jūshiro Ukitake / Shunsui Kyōraku Summary: I never intended to fall in love with my best friend. I remember the way things used to be, when I was so in love with my wife that I couldn't see straight, when every piece of me was still whole and perfect and complete. Even though things had changed, all I could do was take it one day at a time. Universe: One Trick Pony (OTP) Universe! This takes place after the “One More Night” set and runs parallel to part of “One Trick Pony”. I'll get back to you on which chapter it follows.
If you want to read it (and want me to stop being such a friggin' tease about it, check out the entry!
I'm thinking about going ahead and posting some of the stories I still need to edit here. That way, I can post the new chapters as I go along...
I posted four new stories here in the last 24 hours, all in parts and none of them complete yet. New chapters will be posted here soon after they are posted on fanfiction.net (and dA, for a select number of them).
This brings the total number of fan-fictions available from this site to thirty-nine. Isn't that spectacular?!
In addition, there are extras (for "One Trick Pony"), short vocabulary lessons and clarifications (for "Utterly Hopeless // Utterly Helpless"), and clarification of terms used and a guide to honorifics (for "Strength") included for the interested and/or confused.
I feel down right triumphant!
In addition to the triumph above noted, I'm also back on my livejournal account.
To celebrate, I will be posting two very important spoilers for my "One Trick Pony" Universe!
I will not be posting them here, on my deviantART account, or on my FanFiction.net account. They will only be posted on my livejournal.
After rearranging everything and publishing that version, I realized how few of my stories were up.
I'm not even sure if I have more than 12 posted and arranged here, and that was the entire reason I set up this site...
I've finally found a way I like to post chapter stories. Some of those will pop up here and there, and one or two of the ones done in one fell swoop will be rearranged to have chapters for convenient reading. Most notable of the chapter-story posts is "Worth Fighting For", my Star Ocean III: Til the End of Time fan-fiction. (PS: It's the new story of the week!)
I am getting to a point where I'm posting some of my in-progress stories --I just put up chapters for "Rubber Bands, Super Glue, and Bullet Holes", "Trauma", "Possession", and a few more (for Final Fantasy VII) . Aside from the general updates, new chapters should be posted soon after they are posted on fanfiction.net.
These changes will be reflected the next time I update the site... but I'm not ready to do so yet, since it's still a bit of a mess around here...
I hope to get my two big Bleach in-progress projects up here soon!
Keep your eyes peeled for "One Trick Pony" and "You Can Have Chemistry In Chemistry, but Please Don't Have Biology in Biology!", alright?
